The Transport Certification Australia (TCA) provides a brilliant insight into an expanding business with their case study, “Broadbent Bulk Services – Taking advantage of PBS through the IAP”.
Broadbent services the Darling Downs area of Queensland along with northern New South Wales. The company specialises in bulk transport of grain to the Port of Brisbane for export.
After expanding into transport in 2007, the importance of the Toowoomba to Port of Brisbane route became a critical move. Broadbent seized the opportunity for PBS A-Doubles, which allowed for fewer trips, less wear and tear, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and a big saving for the supply chain.
“Being able to operate on this route and other connecting routes like the Warrego Highway and Port Drive – which accesses the Port of Brisbane – means we have first and last mile access to the corridor between Toowoomba and Port of Brisbane,” said Mr Noble.
Transtech helped Broadbent obtain approval to operate PBS A-Double combinations with advice and support on enrolling in the IAP.
