Operators of “High Risk” mobile cranes will be able to enrol into the IAP online from 27 June 2011. It is recommended that all high risk mobile crane operators enrol as early as possible to prevent delays in travel access.

From 5 October 2011 it will be compulsory for all high risk mobile cranes to be enrolled in the IAP as a condition of access to approved roads in NSW. This includes mobile cranes registered in NSW and mobile cranes registered in other States or Territories that wish to operate in NSW.

High risk mobile cranes are defined as:

·         All cranes wider than 2.5 metres

·         All cranes 2.5 metres wide or less that exceed the mass limits outlined in the Class 1 Special Purpose Vehicle Notice 2011 (PDF)

·         All cranes with a forward projection exceeding 5.5 metres
